Denard Fortune


Role within the UnderShadow Series

Denard was a neighborhood phenom. Eagle Scout mentality overall, in addition to being a highly vaunted athletic prospect in several sports. Especially Basketball. As dominant of an athlete as he was, he was equally masterful in his charm. Denard turned down several scholarship offers because he was also an extraordinary student. He instead joined the Army and went off to war overseas with the military. During this time he joined the ranks of many of his forefathers in joining UnderShadow. 

 

His activities earned him a collection of accolades, rank, and prestige that made his name a verb within the military community. It also earned him the notoriety of accumulating the attention of many bad actors abroad, as his success came at the collective demise of several of their plans and agendas. The most disastrous example of how this development presented itself in the lives of his entire family was the botched attempt to have him assassinated. What happened was his wife, Dorothy, her sister, and her husband were viciously murdered when it was discovered that he was not present in the home or the area at the time of the incident. Sadly the result of inaccurate information being provided. His only son witnessed these events along with his cousins. Luckily they were not murdered along with their parents, but instead miraculously spared somehow. 

 

A career member of the military and intelligence community, this did not deter him from his passion to serve. Still devastated by the loss of his wife, He sought refuge in pursuing the endeavor of chasing information and intelligence to ascertain who was responsible. He could not remain stateside to care for his son and conduct this fact-finding mission.  So, he gave guardianship to his younger brother Demetrius. In the hope that in doing so his son would be benefited from being in Demetrius's orbit. Safer than not being within it and him abroad. The opportunity to care for his son like he was his own as he continued to serve UnderShadow abroad.
